Creative Floral and Macro
Workshop for
Auckland Photographic Society
By Gail Stent

Creative Floral and Macro
Location:
  • Auckland Domain's Wintergarden
  • Ponsonby training centre
The Wintergardens in the Auckland Domain was designed in the early 1900s. It hosts rare and spectacular plants in an ever-changing display. A wonderful place to peacefully discover the art of Macro photography with Gail Stent.
Intro:
Gail has had great success with creative photography on a National and International level.  Her photography has an artistic style to it, whether working with photos direct from the camera or creating unique art in post production using Photoshop.

The workshop is in two parts:  At the Auckland Winter Gardens, you will learn about Macro and Floral photography, creating your own beautiful images.  After that we head to our Ponsonby venue where you will work on your images in Photoshop, learning techniques and tricks to turn them into creative works of art.

Topics discussed during the workshop:
  • The basics of Focus and Aperture
  • Backgrounds and changing Depth of Field
  • The elements and principles of Macro and Floral photography
  • Recognising the visual elements of good composition
  • Introducing freedom and creativity to your photography
  • Creative techniques of post production in Photoshop

What you need for the workshop:
To get the most out of this workshop you will need equipment for taking macro photos:
  • Macro Lens for your camera
  • OR Extension tubes
  • OR Close up Filters
  • OR Point & Shoot camera with Macro Mode

If you don’t have any of the above, you can use an ordinary zoom lens for close-up and floral photography, or you can purchase the above at Photogear stores in Albany or Ponsonby.
NZ Photography Tours is proudly supported by Photogear, who kindly provide invaluable support to our NZ Photography Tours students.
